Although the regulations of Expeditions to the Inca Trail, says that reservations must be made 5 days before, it is best to make the reservation at least 60 days before the departure date. For conservation reasons, the Institution in charge of maintaining this tourist destination has limited entry to 500 people per day, including guides, porters and support staff. So it is necessary to pay the permits in advance.
We will start your trip by picking you up at your hotel at 06:00 AM to drive from Cusco to Ollantaytambo and then to Km. 82. Here we will have to register to enter the Inca Trail and we will meet all the staff members who will do the trek with us. From km 82, we will hike gently for 2 hours until we reach our lunch spot known as Miskay. After lunch, we will take a short rest and then we will continue our adventure for 4 more hours until we reach Huayllabamba. On the way, we will be able to see the archaeological site of Patallacta. Finally, in Huayllabamba, we will have dinner prepared for us and then we will have a restful rest in the tents of our camp.
During the morning, we will drink coca tea to help us acclimatize more to the altitude. Soon after, we will have a hearty breakfast prepared by our trail chef. With this energy, we will begin the adventure of our second day! We will walk around 5 hours to reach the top of the mountain called Warmihuañusca. There, we will have an incredible view of the Andes! After enjoying these panoramic views and resting, we will go down for about 1 hour until we reach our lunch spot. After lunch, we will continue walking until we reach Pacaymayo, where we will spend the rest of the afternoon resting and relaxing before going back to sleep in our tents
After having a good coca tea and having breakfast, we will continue walking on the Inca Trail. We start in Pacaymayo and pass through the archaeological site of Sayaqmarca. After visiting the beautiful Inca structures here, we will stop for lunch. After lunch, we will continue walking until we reach Wiñaywayna (Always Young) where we will set up our tents and camp for dinner and sleep.
Today’s Highlights: Your excitement for our Machu Picchu encounter will increase as you make your way early in the morning through the forest to reach the Puerta del Sol which overlooks the entire grandiose site! You will have plenty of time to explore this magnificent wonder of the world while enjoying the beautiful sunrise from this once-in-a-lifetime vantage point. Your group will learn about this mystical place on a two-hour guided tour of the ruins. Afterwards, you can choose to climb Huayna Picchu or Machupicchu Mountain (if you have reserved tickets) or hike to the Inca Bridge (without additional tickets).
